As an Electrician, you will be responsible for a variety of installation, maintenance and repair projects involving streetlights, traffic signals, pedestrian crossovers, signage, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices. You will work 40–50-hour weeks with opportunities for overtime as part of a 3-5 person crew. Frequent out of town work (up to 50%) and periodic night shift assignments. What you will do Everyday

  • Install, maintain and repair traffic signal systems, subsystems, pedestrian crossovers, street lighting, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices
  • Perform routine diagnostics of signal malfunctions utilizing traffic signal control systems
  • Maintain accurate records, including material inventory and diaries of daily activities
  • Maintain, inspect, and clean vehicles and equipment
  • Assist with designing and implementing maintenance procedures
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and safety of company’s assets


Skills Required

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to be adaptable, manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic cabinets and roadway lighting
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Ability to workdays/nights/weekends or out of town if necessary
  • Strong computer skills


Qualifications Needed

  • Valid Journeyman or Apprentice Electrician
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 (non GDL) driver’s license and submission of a 3-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Valid Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, Aerial Work Platform safety certificates
  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA CPS) Signal certifications are an asset
