As an Electronics Technician with Can-Traffic Services, you will install, maintain and repair traffic signal systems, subsystems, pedestrian crossovers, street lighting, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices. Our Electronics Technicians work primarily work in-town navigating the City of Edmonton and surrounding municipalities. What you will do Everyday
- Assembling, installing, repairing, replacing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electronics components and systems.
- Inspect and test electronic equipment and assemblies.
- Diagnose and locate circuit, components, and equipment faults.
- Complete work orders, test, and maintenance reports.
- Utilize computer skills and use of our internal propriety software.
- Utilize software to enable, program, and test systems.- Ensuring all power and manual tools are operated in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Run wiring
- Install/replace new and old Traffic Signal infrastructure.
- Providing training and supervision for new technicians and apprentices.
- Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance and servicing equipment.
- Interpret drawings, training manuals, and instructions to perform duties.
- Following written, verbal, and telephonic instructions.
- Other duties as assigned
Skills Required
- Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to be adaptable, manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to facilitate conflict resolution internally and externally
- Ability to identify opportunities and potential risks when making repair and maintenance decisions
- Knowledge of electronics, digital logic, microprocessors and PLC’s
- Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic cabinets and roadway lighting
- Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
- Strong computer skills
Qualifications Needed
- Combination of technical training in an industry-related trade certification/education program and work experience
- Valid Alberta Class 5 (non GDL) driver’s license and submission of a 3-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
- Valid Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, Aerial Work Platform safety certificates
- Valid Journeyman Electrician, or Power Lineman certificate is an asset
- International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA CPS) Signal certification
- IMSA CPS Work Zone Certification
- IMSA CPS Traffic Signal Technician Level I
- IMSA CPS Traffic Signal Technician Level II
