We are currently looking for a permanent, full-time Heavy Equipment Technician to work full-time out of our Sherwood Park Shop. The Heavy Equipment Technician will, support, and conduct hands-on daily work alongside the Shop Foreman and a small team of mechanics keeping our fleet running strong and our operations running smoothly.

 Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, clutches, electrical and pneumatic systems, gearboxes, hydraulics, cooling systems, exhaust, brakes, suspensions, lights, etc. including, bucket trucks, picker trucks, trailers, and other equipment as required
  • Performing routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment, vehicles, and machinery
  • Major component replacement and rebuilds as needed
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs
  • Shop maintenance and clean up
  • Field repairs as required
  • Perform additional job-related assignments as directed by supervisor

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to be adaptable, manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Negotiation skills, with a focus on best-value and fit-for-purpose solutions
  • Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
  • Strong analysis, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

 

Qualifications

  • Journeyman/ Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic with at least 1 year experience in a shop environment
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • CVIP Inspection Certificate is an asset
  • Air brake (Q) endorsement is an asset
