Can-Traffic Traffic Signal Technicians assist with the installation, maintenance and repair of traffic signal systems, subsystems, pedestrian crossovers, street lighting, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices. Our Traffic Signal Technicians work in-town navigating the City of Edmonton in a service van or bucket truck with a partner working a 7 on 7 off, 12 hour shift schedule that alternates between days and nights.   • Install, maintain and repair traffic signal systems, subsystems, pedestrian crossovers, street lighting, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices
  • Implement and monitor traffic signal timing plans
  • Perform routine diagnostics of signal malfunctions utilizing traffic signal control systems
  • Maintain accurate records, including material inventory and diaries of daily activities
  • Maintain, inspect, and clean vehicles and equipment
  • Assist with designing and implementing maintenance procedures
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and safety of company’s assets
  Skills Required
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to be adaptable, manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic cabinets and roadway lighting
  • Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Ability to workdays/nights/weekends or out of town if necessary
  • Strong computer skills
  Qualifications Needed
  • Valid Journeyman or Apprentice Electrician
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 (non GDL) driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Valid Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, Aerial Work Platform safety certificates
  • International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA CPS) Signal certification is an asset
    • IMSA CPS Work Zone Certification
    • IMSA CPS Traffic Signal Technician Level I
    • IMSA CPS Traffic Signal Technician Level II

Can-Traffic Small Equipment Operator/Labourer assist with a variety of installation, maintenance and repair projects involving street lights, traffic signals, pedestrian crossovers, signage, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices. Operators are an important part of our 3-5 persons crews and work year round Monday to Friday, 40+ hour weeks with opportunities for overtime. Expect periodic out of town and night shift assignments.  To thrive in this role you must be a hard-working individual with exposure to the construction industry, can show up on time everyday and work in a physically demanding environment. What you will do Everyday
  • Work alongside our experienced technicians to assist in the maintenance and repair of traffic signals, street lights, and other roadside infrastructure.
  • Operate tools and equipment under the guidance and supervision of senior team members. This includes hand tools, power tools, and potentially larger machinery depending on your training and experience
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines at all times, ensuring your safety and the safety of your team members and the public
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This includes removing debris, organizing materials, and ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
   Skills Required
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks. You should be comfortable lifting heavy objects up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to workdays/nights/weekends or out of town if necessary
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability
  • Demonstrated organization skills
  Qualifications Needed
  • High School Diploma with related construction experience
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 and submission of a 5-year Commercial Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Air Brakes (Q) Endorsement is an asset
  • Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, Aerial Work Platform, Bucket Truck are assets

  • Ensure safe and effective operations of equipment such as digger derricks, bucket trucks, skid steers, mini excavators, pulling trailers, rigging for lifts etc.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance and mechanical checks.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines at all times, ensuring your safety and the safety of your team members and the public
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This includes removing debris, organizing materials, and ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
  • Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed such as pulling wire, pouring concrete bases, unloading materials etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

  • Ability to adapt to changes in assignments and priorities in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability
  • Experience operating in urban environments
  • Ability to maintaining high levels of productivity and able to work long hours when necessary
  • Ability and willingness to perform duties in inclement and adverse weather conditions
  • Knowledge of DOT restrictions and regulations
  • Knowledge of OH&S Acts and Legislation
  Qualifications
  • High School Diploma with a minimum 2 years related experience operating equipment
  • Valid Alberta Class 3Q driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Industry courses in equipment operating is considered an asset
  • Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, Ground Disturbance, Aerial Work Platform are assets
